Vida Essel-LampteyThe Political Affairs Director of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Lawyer Kwame Jantuah has asked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to invite the eight Chiana students expelled for insulting him and speak a word or two to them.
That he said would make much difference in the lives of the girls despite the blatant disrespect they exhibited.
“I will even suggest that the President should call them, the eight girls,” Kwame Jantuah said.
“He is a father, he is a father and sit with them and advice them and talk to them and tell them the essence of his free education policy and why they shouldn’t get involved in some of these things. It will have a huge impact on the girls; the girls will go back and narrate their engagement,” he added.
Asked if inviting them won’t mean an easy way to access the President, Mr Jantuah said “it is trying to send a certain message in which we can bring some of these things close to power”.
“These students are the future of the country. They are the future. Any of these students can become lawmakers, can even ascend to the Presidency, can heads huge institutions when they become adults so that meeting with the President will stay with them for the rest of their lives, the advice he gives will stay with them for the rest of the lives , the impact of it will stay with them for rest of their lives, ” Mr Jantuah justified his call for the President to meet the eight girls.
Mr Jantuah made the comment on TV3 NewDay on Friday, January 13, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
GES dismiss 8students for insulting President Akufo-Addo
Ghana Education Service (GES), on Thursday, January 12, dismissed eight students of the Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region for misconduct.
The girls used unsavory language on the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a viral video.
A copy of the video sighted by GhanaPls.com saw the students; all form two female students raining unpleasant insults on the first gentleman of Ghana.
The video is believed to have been shot on October last year when the President made his infamous ‘Sika Mpe Dede’ comment.
Prior to their dismissal, the teenage girls had been on suspension.
“The GES says its investigation into the incident confirmed that the students used unsavoury language against the President,” a report by JoyNews added.
However, the President has intervened and asked for an alternative punishment instead of dismissal.
