Nima- Maamobi deadly clash: Two more suspects arrested

Two more suspects have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the deadly clash which took place between some irate youth of Nima and Maamobi on Tuesday.

The arrest brings to nine (9), the number of suspects arrested over the development which saw some youth of the two communities clashed in gun and cutlass battle.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Kwesi Ofori said the suspects are currently assisting the service in investigations.

 He mentioned some weapons, a motor bike and security uniforms were retrieved during the arrest of the two.

“Regarding arrest made so far we have arrested 9 people, today two people were arrested at Ashalaja where they decided to go but thanks to the effete Intel of the police service in collaboration of the good people of his country we got two of them and weapons like pump action, a set of security uniforms and an unregistered motor bike was also retrieved from them”.

ACP Kwesi Ofori explained the Police would work assiduously to ensure all perpetrators are brought to book to ensure peace and sanity prevails.

“Arrest will continue, special police exercises will continue, targeted operations will continue and other specially design Intel led operations to get all the perpetrators and all chief executives of these criminal gangs,” he revealed at the press conference monitored by the GhanaPlus.com.

 Nima- Maamobi deadly clash

Ghanaian media on Tuesday, January 18 reported a violent clash between some irate youth of Maamobi and Nima in Accra.

JoyNews report in viral videos, the youth from the two Muslim communities were seen on the streets approaching each other from opposing ends welding machetes as gunshots were fired, leaving onlookers running for cover.

The clash is said to be a rival feud between the two youth group which was ignited on Tuesday afternoon.

Some persons lost their life during the violent clash.

The development has since been condemned by the Chief Imam.
