The Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Kwesi Ofori has sent a strong warning to persons engaged in armed in the country.

Speaking on Big Issue on Citi TV on Saturday, September 25 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the police service would do everything to gag them and their activities should they cross their path.

“We encourage members of the public who know much about their nefarious activities should report to the police …….The police is prepared to serve them. We are ready to work for the common good of society and we promise Ghanaians that we would do whatever it takes to protect them to live that free life and to go about their duties without hindrances but for the robbers, that one, should they cross our path next time, the police will do what it takes,” he said.

He noted the IGP had instructed all commanders of the service to go all out to suppress the activities of the armed men who had been on rampage in recent times.

“The acting Inspector General of the Ghana Police, George Akufo Dampare, yesterday summoned the regional commanders of Accra and that of Tema including all divisional commanders in those regions and we have a lengthy discussions mapping out strategies to contain the day light robberies  and he has charge them to be up and doing and to go all out to gag this day light robbery,” he said.

We will fight arm robbery to the teeth, rally behind us

ACP Kwesi Ofori assured, the police would do their best to provide a free environment for citizens and called all Ghanaians and the media to rally behind them in doing so adding grand strategies have been developed to curb the menace.

“The Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare and members of the police administration would like to ensure the general public that for this day light robbery, we will fight it to the teeth and that we are closing on the suspect and that members of the public should rally behind the police, the media should rally behind for us to work in consent,” he said.

Arm robbery in Ghana

Arm robbery, especially, day light robbery had become rampant in the country in recent time.

At least four broad daylight robberies have been recorded just this week in some parts of the capital raising concerns from residents.
