Salaga sodomy teacher to re- appears in court today

Mr Natomah Otabel, the Salaga teacher accused of sodomizing eighteen (18) pupils at of Kulpi Junior High School will appear in court today, Wednesday, October 13.

3news.com report, he was remanded by the Salaga Magistrate Court on October 1, to reappear today.

Salaga teacher sodomize 18pupils

Mr Otabel, a Social Studies teacher and a Pentecost Elder was reported to have sodomize 18 pupils at the Kulpi Junior High School in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.

He was subsequently arrested following complaints to the police in the area by family members of the victims.

Report said , Mr Otabel was arrested early Monday, morning on September 27 and had since been arraign before a court.

Victims narrating their ordeal to TV3 said their teacher threaten to beat mercilessly if they fail to oblige to his request.

To beat them, he will give them difficult questions which they would not be able to answer to find reasons to beat them, the victims said.

Gender Minister, others condemn salago sodomy

The teacher’s action has subsequently been condemned by a section of Ghanaian’s including TV3 renowned broadcaster and NewDay host, Johnnie Hughes.

The Acting Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Cecilia Dapaah in a statement condemn the incident and urged the Ghana Police Service to serve justice to the eighteen pupils.

According to the statement , the act was barbaric and must not continue in this day and age when the country was is seeking to eliminate all forms of violence including sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Again, the ministry commended the victims for the boldness in exposing the barbaric actions of the teacher.

The statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com said the ministry would liaise with the Guidance and Counseling Unit of the Ghana Education Service to provide them the necessary support.

The report however added, medical report of the 18 were yet to be  received by the Police due to exorbitant charges being demanded by doctors and the Police before signing the report.

One persons form was said to be at a total cost of ₵1,300.
