The Member of Parliament for the Wa Central Constituency, Mr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo has said he and the National Democratic Congress(NDC) are fervently praying for 2024 to come quickly.
That he said is to enable Ghanaians to return to the polls and vote out the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and give the NDC a chance to lead the country again.
“I am praying that we should get to 2024 quickly and Ghanaians will take a decision and get out of power and then we can come back with our development ways”.
Mr Pelpuo made the comment while speaking on Hot News on Pan African TV on Thursday, December 2, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He was speaking about the chaotic situations which have graced proceeding at Parliament in the past few days.
The chaotic situation he said is to be blamed on the government which is bent on using the country’s rightful constitutional structures to do wrong things at all times.
Majority, Minority brawls in Parliament over 2022 budget
Ghana’s Parliament have become chaotic in the last one week or more following a misunderstanding between the Majority and the Minority over the 2022 budget presented to the house by the government.
The budget, dubbed ‘Agenkwa budget‘ has been vehemently opposed by Minority who were of the view it does not provide any hope for the struggling Ghanaian.
They have opposed among other things the 1.75% electronic transaction levy proposed on mobile money transactions above ₵100.
The Minority have also called for the reintroduction of 50% bench mark value enjoyed by exporters withdrawn by the 2022 budget statement.
The budget was subsequently rejected by the Minority led by the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin when the majority staged a walk out on November 26.
The decision has however, been reversed by the Majority led by the Deputy First Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu a sit-him speaker in the absent of the Speaker who is currently out of the country on a medical tripe.
The budget has also been approve by the Majority without the Minority and in the absence of the Speaker of Parliament.
