Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper,Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr has paid glowing tribute to the late legendary Ghanaian high-life musician, A. B. Crentsil  following the report of his death on Wednesday.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Wednesday, July 13 monitored by GhanaPlus.com he said his contribution to the country’s music industry and art in general has been amazing, as such deserve all the acknowledgement.

He revealed, the “Angelina” hit maker brought the Ghanaian music genre back to life in the 1960s and 1970 and gave it a new relevance in the country amidst competition from a new genre know as the burger highlife.

 “A. B. Crentsil contributed huge to the development of art in Ghana. He made highlife live again in the late 60s and early 70”.

“He gave highlife a new life and that is the time burger highlight was resurfacing and diluting the essence of highlife music and A.B. Crentsil just came up and gave highlife a new life and I think his contribution has been marvelous and he deserve the salutation of all of us” Kwesi Pratt Jnr said.

A. B.  Crentsil reported dead

The celebrated musician, A. B. Crentsil was reported dead on Wednesday, July 13 by renowned Sound Engineer, Mr Fred Kyei Mensah in a Facebook post.

He was 79years now year old at the time of his death.

The contemporary Ghanaian vocalists is played for bands with El Dorados, the 1990’s Sweet Talks , a resident band at The Talk Of The Town Hotel in Tema and the Ahenfo Band and credited with songs such as I  Go Pay You Tomorrow”, ‘Ye Wo Adze Oye(Sokoo)”, “Juliana”, “Angelina”, “Obi Baa Wiase”, ‘Ayen”, “Gya Me Life Ma Me”, “Ma me Dwen Me Ho”, “Landlord Abodwese”, “Menba Bio” and host of others and own many awards in his career which span across decades.

He left behind a wife and eight(8) children.
