King Faisal defeat New Edubiase United to win maiden Hakiyba International cup

King Faisal defeated New Edubiase United 3-1 to win the maiden edition of the Hakiyba International trophy on Sunday.

The Ghana Premier League side produced a ruthless performance on the day to defeat the zone two side at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Goals from Sam Ortiz, Adu Boahene and Nazir Musah propel the Insha Allah boys to a comfortable win on the night.

Yussif Bawura got a late consolation for the Division One League side.

King Faisal took an early lead in the game as Sam Ortiz finished home a pass from Daniel Yemoh to put the ball at the back of the net.

It could have been 2-0 few minutes later but Kwadwo Frimpong’s shot was saved by the visitors goalkeeper.

New Edubiase had the Chance to draw level on the 30th minute, but Abdul Jabal Adams produced a great save to denied Bawura..

The firsts half ended 1-0 in favor of King Faisal.

New Edubiase came back from the break looking more purposeful searching for the equalizer.

King Faisal were reduced to 10 men after Kwadwo Frimpong was given his marching orders.

Despite been a man down, substitute Adu Boahene scored from 30 yard to double King Faisal lead.

Musah Nazir made it 3-1 for the Premier League side few minutes later tapping home a cross from Faisal Musah.

Yussif Bawura grabbed a late consolation for New Edubiase United with a good finish in the penalty box.

King Faisal held on to their two goal lead untill the blast of the final whistle.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion included Ashanti Regional Chief Imam Sheik Abdul Mumin Haroun, CEO of Hakiyba travel and tours Tahir Aliyu Sidamba, Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah and Abdul Salam Yakubu.

The match was played to create opportunity for young Ghanaian footballers who dream of playing in Europe.

King Faisal who won the contest are expected to tour Germany, Belgium and France for a 14-day period to compete against top clubs in these countries.
