Mensah, Ashimeru return as CK Akonnor names Ghana squad for 2022 World Cup qualifiers

Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor has named a provisional 30 man squad for next month 2022 World Cup qualifiers double header.

Ghana are scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg respectively.

Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah and Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru are making a return to the team after missing out in previous call ups.

KAS Eupen young goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen has been handed a debut call up alongside Sturm Graz attacker Kelvin Yeboah.

Hearts of Oak duo Richard Atta and Afriyie Barnieh have also been included in the team.

Despite been doubtful for the games, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Ajax attacker Kudus Mohammed have been included in the provisional squad.
