MTN FA Cup: Ashgold secures place in final after beating Berekum Chelsea 4-1 in semi-final
Ashanti Gold SC have made the final of this season’s MTN FA Cup competition after defeating Berekum Chelsea 4-1 in the semi-final stage on Sunday afternoon.
The Miners have since the start of the competition made it clear the aim is to clinch the title to earn the right to play in Africa next season.
After progressing through the stages in the last few months, Ashanti Gold SC today locked horns with Berekum Chelsea in the semi-finals.
In a game played at the Cape Coast Stadium, Eric Esso scored from a direct free-kick in added time of the first half to shoot the Miners into the lead.
With experienced striker Stephen Sarfo showing his class in the second half and scored to draw parity for Berekum Chelsea, the game traveled to extra time.
Emerging as the superior side, Ashanti Gold SC has cruised to a 4-1 win courtesy of additional goals from Amos Nkrumah, Amos Addai, and Seth Osei.
The Miners now await the winner of the other semi-final game between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC in the final.
