MTN FA Cup: Medeama coach Yaw Preko blames goalkeeper Boateng for Hearts defeat
Medeama SC head coach, Yaw Preko has blamed goalkeeper Frank Boateng for their humiliating defeat to Hearts of Oak in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
The two champions of the competition lost 3-0 to the Phobians at the Cape Coast stadium.
Benjamin Afutu opened the scoring with a towering header after connecting a cross from Isaac Mensah in the 12th minute.
Isaac Mensah later added the second before Daniel Barnieh converted from the spot to seal the win.
According to coach Preko, Boateng’s mistake in the second half affected his side who had made an impressive start in the early stages of the second half.
”You saw the game and it was unfortunate. We shot ourselves in the foot,” Preko told Star Times in a post-match interview.
”First of all, the penalty, I don’t know if it was a penalty- I’m yet to see. He [Frank Boateng] caught the penalty but he was off the line. In all, some things didn’t go our way.”
”I can say we had the game under control even though we were down but you saw out of nothing, our goalkeeper caused a blunder and the penalty the ball was going out.”
Meanwhile, according to reports, Medeama are set to dissolve the entire technical team following their embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Hearts of Oak.
