Vida Essel-LampteyThe Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prapram Constituency, Mr Samuel Nartey George has replied legal practitioner and LGBTQ+ advocate, Mr Gabby Otchere Darko following his comment about the bill currently before Ghana’s parliament.
I am against LGBTQ+ Bill , am not shy to say – Gabby
Mr Otchere Darko on Thursday, November 11 in a twitter post said he was against the LGBTQ+ bill currently before Parliament.
According to him, he is against it and he is not shy to say same publicly.
Mr Otchere Darko said his decision to support the LGBTQ+ minority stems from his appreciation of Ghana’s value system which includes tolerance.
“I am against the anti-gay bill & not shy to say so. I am a proud Ghanaian who cherishes all that is good about our value systems, including tolerance. And, I will defend the right of minorities everywhere. I have the courage and a sense of justice to disagree with the majority,” his tweet reads.

Grab a drink, popcorn and watch something, LGBTQ bill nu, we go pass – Sam George replies Gabby Otchere Darko
However, reacting to the post, Mr Sam George, one of the sponsors of the bill dubbed “Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021” said it is okay for Mr Otchere Darko to be against the bill.
He however, had a piece of advice for him.
He said he should grab a drink and popcorn and watch something as he await the outcome of the bill.
Adding “As for the Bill nu, we go pass am p33”.
“Is nepotism, cronyism and despotism part of our value systems? You can be against the Bill and that’s fine but so am I against the corruption and misrule of your Cousin. As for the Bill nu, we go pass am p33. Grab a drink and popcorn and watch something. Cheers”, Sam George’s tweet reads.
