Newly created Guan District DCE dies after a day in office

The District Chief Executive(DCE) of the newly created Guan district, Marlon Anipa have been reported dead.

The news comes in a day after the DCE, a Specialist Consultant commenced work as the District Chief Executive of the district.

3news report, Mr Anipa officially started work on Monday, November 15 and toured some examination centers of the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) in the district.

He however took ill late hours on the same day and was rushed to the Hohoe Municipal Hospital where he died.

Mr Anipa died on Tuesday morning, November 16.

Family sources confirmed the news to the media.

Marlon Anipa appointed DCE of Guan District

Mr Marlon Anipa was appointed the District Chief Executive of the newly created Guan District in the Volta Region by the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralisation Daniel Botwe on November 5 following the successful inauguration of the district.

The district is made up of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi otherwise known as SALL.

He was subsequently inaugurated into office on Friday, October 8, 2021 by the minister after securing 100% endorsement from the Assembly.

According to report, Mr Anipa polled 18 ‘Yes’ votes from all 18members of the Assembly present at the voting, representing 100%.

SALL did not vote in Parliamentary elections

It could be recalled residents of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi , communities within the newly created Guan district in the Volta Region were denied participation in the 2020 Parliamentary elections over boundary issues which arose from the creation of the six new regions.

The district currently have no representation in Parliament.
