Akufo-Addo has become a very weak leader – Mogtari

Aide to the Former President, John Dramani Mahama, Ms Joyce Bawa Mogtari has said the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has become a weak leader.

That according to her explains why the President is unable to act as far as his non performing ministers are concerned.

Ms Mogtari made the comment on Big Issue on TV3 NewDay on Thursday, July 27 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

“President Akufo can renominate a substantive minister; he can even promote the deputy into an active capacity, why not? but you see, President Akufo-Addo suddenly has become largely a very weak leader,” Ms Mogtari said .

One, you can’t sack, you can’t do a reshuffle, you can’t re-appoint, seriously!, you have just become a figure head,” she added.

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) member  made the comment while contributing to discussions on the absent of the Dome Kwabenya MP, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo from her duties, the recommendations made by the Privileges Committee of Parliament and it accompanying opposition from the Minority in Parliament.

According to her, the President is not bound to maintain Ms Adwoa Safo as a member of cabinet adding that the likes of her and others, including the Minister of Finance ought not be at post.

“Look at the whole logistics, the honourable Finance Minister is still at post and I have always asked for his resignation”… “The President is not bound by any legal, factual, or others, no reason whatsoever,” Ms Mogtari mentioned.

She is of the view, the President’s weak posture is what is having a ripple effect on his government and the country at large.

“……Look, every administration where leadership is substantially effective, there is a way in which you carry out your responsibilities. Of cause, if an individual has become just a figure head and everybody controls you and everybody blackmails you and everybody threatens you, naturally that is what happens, inept, a certain inertia,  a certain incapacity even though you appear capable,” Ms Mogtari emphasized.
