Vida Essel-LampteyLeader of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, Mr Haruna Iddrisu has said he accepts responsibility for the approval of the President ministerial appointees for fisheries, Information and Agriculture and others by the Minority in Parliament which sparked agitations among the rank and file of the party.
According to him, the development only show he was not able to hold his side together when the country and his party needed him the most to do so.
“When you have 137 and you go and get any number below 137, for the NDC party following, that is disappointment, it means that am not able to hold together, I take responsibility for that”.
The Tamale South MP made the comment in an exclusive interview on PM Express on JoyNews on Monday, May 24 and monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He indicated a meeting between the caucus and the Party had brought to bear where they aired and created a better appreciation of the development which caused so much dissatisfaction among the rank and file of the party across the country.
He promised going forward, his caucus would be well position and focused to give Ghanaian what they required of them and that was to hold the government accountable in all spheres of the country’s governance system.
“Am encourage that the NDC party leaders and its Council of Leaders and the Minority Caucus have engaged for us to appreciate what they consider their dissatisfaction or what they consider as appalling performance of leadership and Members of Parliament and is limited for the purpose of this parliament to the approval and disapproval of ministers,” he said.
“So we are united and focus, we are united in meaning to hold government accountable,” Mr Iddrisu added.
