The Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central Constituency, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala has said he has added Ofori-Atta, the sir name of Ghana’s Finance Minister to his name.

The addition, he said is to enable him land what he described as juicy contract since the name Ofori-Atta in Ghana is synonymous to very attractive deals, promotions and positions.

It is also to enable him re-distribute fairly what he said is the country’s resource only allowed to be distributed among the family and friends of the President.

Murtala Muhammed made the comment on TV3 NewDay on Wednesday, July 12 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

I am, accept that my name this morning has change. You can add it if you so wish, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed Ofori-Atta. I want to land a juicy contract so I want Ofori-Atta to be part of my name” he said on a lighter note when asked by the host how he is doing?

“So for the purposes of this programme, describe me as Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed Ofori-Atta,” he emphasized.

“I want to land a juicy contract so that I can properly and fairly re-distribute the resources that are only allowed to be distributed among family and friends of Nana Addo,” he added when quizzed why he choose the name if he thinks the Minister hasn’t done any great job since he took office.

Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s Finance Minister

Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori, a relation of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has come under intense criticism following the recent economic difficulties in the country.

Many hold the view, the country’s resources are shared among him and others said to be related to the President to the detriment of the country and its citizenry.

Several Ghanaians including politicians from the position have also accused him of intentionally plunging the country into debt since his investment banking facility, Data Bank who has been at the forefront of major loan agreement of the country will benefit directly.
