Kumawu by-elections: We confident that there will be upset

Former Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia has expressed confident, Kumawu not the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s stronghold regardless, they will cause an upset in the by-elections.

That he said was because the constituency toppled with the current economic difficulties have been abandoned by the ruling government, holders of the seat up until the death of its Member of Parliament and that gives them some leverage over them.

Mr Segbefia said win or lose, he is confident the NDC will make some positive impact in terms of votes adding that “Kumawu is not for the NDC to win but for the NPP to lose”.

The NDC Member was speaking on Good Morning Africa on Pan African TV on Monday, May 22, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

“It has never been the seat of the NDC, is an NPP stronghold seat, however, the reason why a lot of people are raising a lot of question marks is because of what is happening in the country currently and the state of the economy position we find ourselves, couple with the fact that, truth be known the NPP actually neglected this constituency. They haven’t done much in this constituency,” he said.

“………………They are taking it seriously in term of the fact that, withstanding, that it is a stronghold they are fully aware that an upset can be caused and we are going to do our best to ensure that upset becomes a reality even though the hurdles are quiet large in terms of the numbers gab that already exist from history but we think that these are different times and we hope that Kumawu will make that difference,” Mr Segbefia added.

“We are quietly quite confident that there will be an upset in Kumawu,” he emphasized.
