Breaking: Popular Ghanaian dance hall artiste Shatta Wale remand into Police custody

Popular Ghanaian dance –hall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah have been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit court.

Affectionately called Shatta Wale, in the Ghanaian entertainment space, the artiste is facing one count of publication of false news.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Report sighted by GhanaPlus.com said the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh denied him bail and remanded him to reappear on October 26.

His three friends,  Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope, Eric Venator, aka Gangee and Iddriss Yussif arrested in connection with his alleged shooting on the other hand have been charged with abatement to publication of false news.

They have also been remanded to reappear on the same date following a not guilty plea.

Shatta Wale was arrested on Tuesday October 19 after an allege report of gun attack on his life turned out to be fake.

Police report said he turn himself him shortly after the arrest of his three friends believe to have had a hand in the fake shooting report.

The popular, self acclaimed dance hall king of Ghana, Shatta Wale was reported shot on Monday, October 18 by unknown gunmen.

The report said he was receiving treatment at a hospital in Accra, the name was however, not disclosed.

The development followed a prophecy by a popular prophet , Jesus Ahoufe that the award winning artiste would be shot dead by assailant like popular South African reggae musician, Lucky Dube.

He would also be killed  on October 18, same day, Lucky Dube was killed.

Lucky Dube was murdered in a gun shot on October 18, 2007 in Rosettenville , a suburb of Johannesburg.

However, the report turned out to be a hoax as investigations by the Ghana Police Service said the artiste was not found in any hospital neither was his family aware of the attack.
