“This populist arrest won’t stop me from speaking my mind”– Abronye DC after his incarceration

Vida Essel-LampteyPopular New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Kwame Baffoe also known in the political sphere as Abronye DC have described his arrest as populist.
Speaking to the media after he was granted bail by an Accra court on Wednesday, February 16, he said no amount of such arrest will deter him from speaking his mind.
Abronye DC noted the activities of the Ghana Police Service, most especially, its Inspector General, Dr George Akufo Dampare has been described as populace and same is what is happening to him as far as his arrest is concerned.
“Actually, I have been advice by my counsels not to respond to this populist arrest which was effected by the IGP. I think the next court date is on the 9th but what I will like to say is that no amount of this populace incarceration wills injunction me from voicing out all speaking my mind,”.
“I have use the word populace because the exercise of the IGP for some months now have been described as populist and same has been thing happening to me so from tomorrow going I will come out public to speak to the people,” he said in the video sighted by GhanaPlus.com.
Abronye DC arrested over Mahama coup comment
The NPP politician was arrested by the Ghana Police Service after he presented himself to the Police upon an invitation over an alleged claim, the former President, John Dramani Mahama is planning a coup, a statement he made while speaking on Hot 93.9FM’s political talk show “Dwene Ho Bio”.
Abronye DC alleged the former President Mahama was in cohort with Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda militants group to stage a coup in Ghana.
A statement from the Police announcing the invitation said “The attention of the Ghana Police Service was drawn to a publication which Mr Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC is alleged to have said the former President John Mahama is allegedly planning to stage a coup”
“The Accra Region Police Command has invited Mr Kwame Baffoe to report to the Regional Headquarters by 4pm today to assist with investigations failure of which he will be arrested,” the statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com said.
According to the Police preliminary investigations has established the claims were false hence his arrest .
He has subsequently been charged with two count of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to the breaches of peace and granted a ¢100,000 bail with two sureties.
