VGMA 22: Diana Hamilton adjudged VGMA’s Artiste of the Year

Celebrated Ghanaian gospel musician, Diana Antwi Hamilton has been adjudged the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) Artiste of the Year.

Second Female/Gospel Musician to ever win VGMA Artiste of the Year

Her win makes her the second gospel artiste to have won the coveted award and the ultimate of the night.

Popular gospel musician, Joe Mettle was the first to win the category for the gospel fraternity in the country since the inception of the awards some 21years ago.

The win again makers her the second female to win the ultimate and competitive male dominated category after the late Ruff Town signee, Ebony Reign who won it in 2017, posthumously.

With the win, the Adom hit maker takes over from last year’s winner and Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuame Eugene and would be the reigning queen of the music industry till 2022.

Competitors of the Artiste of the Year Award

The Adom hit makers beat her predecessor, Kuame Eugene and his record label mate Kidi, sensational singer, Adina, multiple-award winner and BET winner, Sarkodie and renowned hip-pop artiste, Medikal.

The ‘Your Word’  composer also swept the Gospel Song of the Year, the Gospel Artiste of the Year and the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year awards on the night.

Receiving the award, Diana Hamilton was appreciative to God, her family, the Church of Pentecost, gospel music fraternity and all who supported the DH for Artiste of the Year campaign.

Diana Hamilton’s Music Career

Diana Hamilton’s musical career begun as early at age thirteen (13) as a backing vocalist for celebrated Ghanaian gospel musician , Francis Agyei however, she became a household name in 2017 when she release her first album )soro b3kasa”  and has since been a name to reckon with in the gospel fraternity.

She has five albums to her credit and has won several awards over the years including Artiste of Excellence Europe and her last night win, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of Year, the ultimate in the Ghana music industry.
